Takopi Is Now Encrypted: First E2EE Chat for Codex + Claude, Out of the Box

You can now use Takopi encrypted via Matrix. Out of the box Codex + Claude + more end-to-end encrypted chat.

Caveat: E2EE covers the chat transport; once messages are forwarded to an LLM provider, that provider still receives plaintext prompts.

Why: Takopi is explicitly multi-engine and supports both Codex and Claude Code, and takopi-matrix is the Matrix transport plugin with E2EE and multi-room support. In practice, that pairing gives me one encrypted chat surface that can switch engines on demand.

Recent upstream PRs by p0s focused on E2EE setup and reliability (SAS verify-device helper, Megolm key sharing), plus parity features like built-in commands, session continuity, and a more reliable /reload path.

Alternatives that do something similar, but not quite the same: Jackpoint is a Matrix bridge for Claude Code. gorp-rs is a Matrix bridge with E2E encryption and ACP adapters for codex-acp and claude-code-acp.
